9-11-2011

I will not post a bunch of ghastly photos of the Twin Towers while they were burning. I want to remember the Towers the way they were, and also post some pics of the Memorial lights from previous years. I can see them from my own back yard, but when I try to photograph them, they do not appear clearly enough to do them justice.

I'll never forget that fateful day, and the horror of that event. All I wanted to do was get to my children, who were in school when the planes crashed and the towers fell. I know people who were killed in the attack, right from my own neighborhood. What struck me was the sheer humanity and compassion that ruled the rest of that day, and the days, weeks, and months to come.

Although my heart breaks for those families who lost loved ones, I want to remind everyone that peace can only be achieved through love and respect. There's so many questions that were left unanswered, and even with the attempts to find answers, there have been many more that crop up as a result. There's a reason why we went to war in Iraq, instead of focusing on Afghanistan and Pakistan. There's a reason why building 5 and 7 fell, although they were never struck. There's even a reason why the CIA chose to ignore the very clear warning that the towers were being targeted. There were emergency drills just the day before, at the World Trade Center. Did you know this? There were even pamphlets distributed with a drawing of the Towers with a plane heading toward them on the cover. I have seen them personally.

I am not satisfied with the explanations, although I do not blindly accept all of the conspiracy theories either. I simply know in my heart that there has been a cover up, and the government has not been honest in its explanation of not only the events, but their own involvement. Money, religious and cultural persecution, and imperialism is at the heart of the matter. When does it stop?

I have my own deeply personal convictions that there is so much more to this story than some people want us to believe. But in the end, the only answer is PEACE.
