I think just about everybody by now knows I'm a huge fan of vampires. It is true my debut novel is about zombies, but if you REALLY want to go there with me, I'll just have to explain that my own personal theory is that vampires and zombies are actually linked. Some of the earlier vampire legends revolve around the Strigoi, which were undead "revenants"; basically the rotted and bloating undead that appeared only at night, wandering around looking for a midnight snack. Sounds like a zombie to me, amiright?
Sooo, back to vampires...
There have been a number of vampires that I've admired over the years; Vampirella, Count Chocula, Sesame Street's Count Von Count, and Lily Munster, to name a few. I know, a very weird and eclectic list I suppose, but then again you get an idea of what sort of thing goes on in MY brain. I'm not your average vampire fan! LOL!
But it does lead you to understand WHY I love Marceline sooooo much! If you do not know who she is, let me explain.
Marceline is a recurring character on the cartoon series Adventure Time on Cartoon Network.
Marceline is described as a wild rocker girl. Unlike traditional vampires, Marceline is capable of sustaining herself on "shades of red" instead of exclusively blood. She has a mischievous personality. Despite seeming evil at first, she is more of a trickster, and her 'evil plans' often turn out to be nothing more than harmless jokes and teasing. She has a strained relationship with her father and occasionally has violent outbursts. Finn is generally linked with Princess Bubblegum, but secretly he has the hots for Marceline, although in one episode he proclaims that they do not "like each other in that way." (Yeah right!)
Marceline wanders the Land of Ooo, a post apocalyptic wasteland. (How cool is that?!!) She is 1,000 years old, but appears as a young teen. Hers is the ONLY character in the series who changes clothing and hairstyles. She has a zombie poodle named Shwabl. There is no Vampire King because she killed him. Marceline can shape shift into different creatures.
Adventure Time is a whimsical cartoon made even better by the character Marceline! I really enjoy this series, and particularly love the way Marceline is portrayed as a vampire. If you haven't seen Adventure Time, I highly recommend it!

Marceline is one of the cutest cartoon vampires I've ever seen! She has a unique name too.
Well, I've learnt something today. I had never heard of Marceline before. I'll have to investigate further.

A lot of people are still missing the awesomeness that is Adventure Time on Cartoon Network! It is a better cartoon than anything out there because it can be so subversive at times! I question whether it was ever really meant for kids to begin with, LOL!
